Render Repair in Wiltshire

Cutting out blown, hollow and failed render and making good to match the existing finish.

We carry out render repair across Wiltshire and the surrounding Wiltshire area throughout the year.

Wiltshire is characterised by Bath and chalk stone cottages, Georgian townhouses and modern estates, with lime render on chalk, clunch and Bath stone in conservation areas the recurring theme on the properties we survey. The area sees a moderate inland climate with exposed downland, which is the single biggest factor in how long any render lasts here.

Local factor. Chalk and clunch are extremely soft and porous, and rendering them in cement causes the stone itself to break down behind the render.

Is render repair right for a Wiltshire property?

Choose repair over a full re-render when failure is localised, the bulk of the elevation is sound, and the cause can be fixed.

That decision gets made at the survey, not on the phone. We will tell you plainly if a different system would serve the building better — including when a cheaper one would.

FAQs

Render Repair in Wiltshire — questions

Can you render over existing render?

Sometimes, if the existing coat is completely sound and well-bonded. We hammer-test it first. Anything hollow has to come off, because covering failure just hides it.

Are you insured?

Yes — full public liability cover, and we can send the certificate before we start. We are happy to provide RAMS for commercial and contractor work.

What areas do you cover?

We work UK-wide, with teams across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. If we are not the right firm for your location we will tell you rather than waste your time.

How do I know if my render has blown?

Tap it with your knuckle or a small hammer. Solid render sounds dull and dense; blown render sounds hollow and drummy. Bulging and hairline map-cracking are other signs.

Will the repair match my existing render?

We colour and texture match as closely as possible, but weathered render never matches fresh render exactly. On a visible front elevation, rendering the full wall gives a cleaner result.

How much does rendering cost?

It is priced by the square metre and depends on the system, the condition of the walls and access. Our guide-price tool gives an indicative range in about a minute, and the survey turns that into a fixed written quote.
