Machine-sprayed render for fast, consistent application on large elevations and commercial work.
Spray application uses a rendering pump to apply material at a consistent rate and thickness rather than laying it on by hand. On anything above a certain size the difference is significant: a machine maintains an even coat thickness across a whole elevation, which improves both the finish and the performance, and it does it in a fraction of the time.
The economics are what usually decide it. Spraying reduces labour hours and scaffold hire, which on a large elevation or a commercial block more than covers the plant cost. Detailing — beads, reveals, corners, joints — is still finished by hand, so you get machine consistency across the field with hand quality at the edges.
When it is the right choice. Choose spray application on large elevations, terraces, apartment blocks and commercial buildings where consistency and programme speed matter.

Spray-Applied Render — your questions
Is sprayed render as good as hand-applied?
On large areas it is generally better, because the machine maintains a more consistent thickness than a hand float can. Detailing is still hand-finished.
Is spray render cheaper?
Per square metre on a large job, usually yes — fewer labour hours and less scaffold time. On a small house the plant setup cost outweighs the saving.
What renders can be sprayed?
Most modern systems — silicone thin-coat, monocouche, acrylic and basecoats. Traditional lime and some heritage specifications are still applied by hand.
Is spraying messy?
There is overspray, so we mask windows, doors, boundaries and vehicles thoroughly before starting. Well-managed, it is no more disruptive than hand application.
How long does a rendering job take?
A typical three-bedroom semi is usually one to two weeks on site including scaffold, preparation, application and finishing. Weather, wall condition and the system chosen all move that.
Do I need planning permission to render my house?
Usually not on a standard house, but you will if the property is listed, in a conservation area, or if rendering would significantly change its appearance. We flag it at survey.
Will you need scaffolding?
For anything above single storey, yes — it is safer and produces a better finish than working off ladders or towers. Scaffold is included and itemised in the quote.
