In practice it is a full system range from Kilwaughter — base coats, primers, silicone thin-coat topcoats, scraped textures, dry-dash receivers and brick-effect finishes — and the warranty depends on the whole build-up being installed to their specification, not just the topcoat.
That matters more than most homeowners realise. Mixing a cheap basecoat under a branded topcoat voids the system warranty and is a common shortcut. We install complete K Rend build-ups with the specified primers, beads and mesh so the system warranty actually stands behind the finished wall.

Is K Rend the same as silicone render?
K Rend is a brand that makes several render types, including silicone thin-coat and scraped textured systems. So most K Rend is silicone render, but not all silicone render is K Rend.
Does K Rend need to be painted?
No. K Rend silicone and scraped finishes are through-coloured, so no decoration is needed.
What warranty comes with K Rend?
Up to 25 years, but only when the complete specified system is installed — base coat, primer, topcoat, beads and mesh all to the manufacturer's build-up.
Can K Rend be cleaned?
Yes. Low-pressure washing with a suitable render cleaner removes algae and atmospheric dirt without damaging the silicone surface.
What time of year is best for rendering?
Spring through autumn is ideal. Render should not be applied in frost or in very hot direct sun, so winter work needs protection and settled conditions.
Can you render over existing render?
Sometimes, if the existing coat is completely sound and well-bonded. We hammer-test it first. Anything hollow has to come off, because covering failure just hides it.
Are you insured?
Yes — full public liability cover, and we can send the certificate before we start. We are happy to provide RAMS for commercial and contractor work.
