Brick slips are thin slices of real brick — clay or concrete — bonded to a wall and pointed like conventional brickwork. From the pavement the result is indistinguishable from a solid brick face, but the build-up is a fraction of the thickness and weight, and it can be applied over insulation.
That combination solves a specific and common problem: you want to insulate externally, but the property is in a conservation area or on a brick-built street where a rendered box would look wrong or fail planning. Brick slips over EWI give you the thermal upgrade and keep the brick appearance. They also work as feature panels — brick at ground floor with render above is a detail that consistently looks considered rather than cost-driven.

Brick Slip Cladding — your questions
Do brick slips look like real brick?
Yes — they are real brick, just cut thin. Once fitted with matching corner slips and properly pointed, they are very difficult to distinguish from solid brickwork at normal viewing distance.
Can brick slips go over insulation?
Yes, that is one of their main uses. Purpose-made carrier systems fix over EWI boards and take the slips mechanically as well as adhesively.
Are brick slips expensive?
They are among the more expensive external finishes, largely due to fitting and pointing labour. Against real brick with the equivalent insulation, they usually compare well.
Will brick slips fall off?
Not when installed on a proper carrier system with mechanical fixing as well as adhesive. Failures come from adhesive-only fixing onto unsuitable substrates.
How long before I can paint new render?
Through-coloured systems need no painting at all. Sand and cement should cure for around 28 days before masonry paint goes anywhere near it.
Do you take a deposit?
For most domestic jobs we take a deposit to cover materials and scaffold, with the balance on completion. Terms are set out clearly in the written quote.
Can you match my existing render?
Usually, yes. We colour and texture match as closely as we can, though weathered render never matches a fresh batch exactly — we will be honest about how visible a patch will be.
