Brick Slip Cladding in Nottinghamshire

Brick slip systems giving an authentic brick face over insulation or an existing rendered wall.

Nottinghamshire property owners come to us for brick slip cladding for one of two reasons: something has failed, or the house looks tired.

Nottinghamshire is characterised by Victorian brick terraces, former mining housing and modern suburban estates, with render repair and pebbledash removal on interwar and postwar housing the recurring theme on the properties we survey. Nottinghamshire sits in a part of the UK that gets a moderate, relatively dry inland climate — worth factoring into any render decision.

Local factor. The county's large stock of former colliery housing was widely rendered in cement in the 1970s, and much of that is now at end of life.

Is brick slip cladding right for a Nottinghamshire property?

Choose brick slips where planning, conservation or street character require a brick face, or where you want brick detailing over an insulated wall.

That decision gets made at the survey, not on the phone. We will tell you plainly if a different system would serve the building better — including when a cheaper one would.

FAQs

Brick Slip Cladding in Nottinghamshire — questions

Can brick slips go over insulation?

Yes, that is one of their main uses. Purpose-made carrier systems fix over EWI boards and take the slips mechanically as well as adhesively.

Will brick slips fall off?

Not when installed on a proper carrier system with mechanical fixing as well as adhesive. Failures come from adhesive-only fixing onto unsuitable substrates.

How long does a rendering job take?

A typical three-bedroom semi is usually one to two weeks on site including scaffold, preparation, application and finishing. Weather, wall condition and the system chosen all move that.

Do I need planning permission to render my house?

Usually not on a standard house, but you will if the property is listed, in a conservation area, or if rendering would significantly change its appearance. We flag it at survey.

Will you need scaffolding?

For anything above single storey, yes — it is safer and produces a better finish than working off ladders or towers. Scaffold is included and itemised in the quote.

How long before I can paint new render?

Through-coloured systems need no painting at all. Sand and cement should cure for around 28 days before masonry paint goes anywhere near it.
