Render Repair in Moray
Cutting out blown, hollow and failed render and making good to match the existing finish.
Our render repair work in Moray starts with a free survey, because guessing at a render specification is how jobs go wrong.
Most of what we see around Moray reflects the wider Moray pattern — harled cottages, sandstone terraces and coastal fishing housing, and harling repair and coastal weathering on the Moray Firth. Local conditions bring drier than the west but cold with coastal exposure, and that has a direct bearing on which systems are worth specifying.
Local factor. The moray coast is drier than the west of scotland but takes hard frost, so freeze-thaw rather than saturation is the dominant failure route.
Is render repair right for a Moray property?
Choose repair over a full re-render when failure is localised, the bulk of the elevation is sound, and the cause can be fixed.
That decision gets made at the survey, not on the phone. We will tell you plainly if a different system would serve the building better — including when a cheaper one would.

FAQs
Render Repair in Moray — questions
Will you need scaffolding?
For anything above single storey, yes — it is safer and produces a better finish than working off ladders or towers. Scaffold is included and itemised in the quote.
How long before I can paint new render?
Through-coloured systems need no painting at all. Sand and cement should cure for around 28 days before masonry paint goes anywhere near it.
Do you take a deposit?
For most domestic jobs we take a deposit to cover materials and scaffold, with the balance on completion. Terms are set out clearly in the written quote.
Can you match my existing render?
Usually, yes. We colour and texture match as closely as we can, though weathered render never matches a fresh batch exactly — we will be honest about how visible a patch will be.
Can blown render be patched or does it all need replacing?
If the failure is localised and the rest is well bonded, patching is the sensible option. Once more than roughly a third of an elevation is hollow, a full re-render usually works out better value.
Why did my render fail?
Most commonly water getting in from above — failed gutters, cracked sills, missing bell-cast beads — or an over-strong cement mix on a substrate that moves. We identify the cause as part of the survey.
