Render Painting & Coating in Cornwall

Breathable masonry coatings and full-system paint applications over existing render.

We carry out render painting & coating across Cornwall and the surrounding Cornwall area throughout the year.

Across Cornwall, granite and cob cottages, slate-hung walls and exposed coastal housing dominates, and driving-rain penetration and salt damage on exposed elevations is what we are called out to most often. Cornwall sits in a part of the UK that gets severe driving rain and salt-laden coastal exposure — worth factoring into any render decision.

Local factor. Exposure here is category-defining — dashed and roughcast finishes genuinely outperform smooth render on west-facing coastal walls.

Is render painting & coating right for a Cornwall property?

Choose painting when the render is structurally sound and you want a colour change or refresh without the cost of a full re-render.

That decision gets made at the survey, not on the phone. We will tell you plainly if a different system would serve the building better — including when a cheaper one would.

FAQs

Render Painting & Coating in Cornwall — questions

How long before I can paint new render?

Through-coloured systems need no painting at all. Sand and cement should cure for around 28 days before masonry paint goes anywhere near it.

Do you take a deposit?

For most domestic jobs we take a deposit to cover materials and scaffold, with the balance on completion. Terms are set out clearly in the written quote.

Can you match my existing render?

Usually, yes. We colour and texture match as closely as we can, though weathered render never matches a fresh batch exactly — we will be honest about how visible a patch will be.

What paint should be used on render?

A breathable coating — silicone-based or mineral silicate. Avoid heavy plastic-based masonry paints, especially on solid walls, as they trap moisture.

Why is my masonry paint peeling?

Almost always trapped moisture behind a non-breathable coating, or paint applied over a chalky, unstabilised surface without a primer.

How long does a rendering job take?

A typical three-bedroom semi is usually one to two weeks on site including scaffold, preparation, application and finishing. Weather, wall condition and the system chosen all move that.
