Lime Render in Hampshire

Breathable hydraulic and hot-mixed lime render for period, listed and solid-wall properties.

We carry out lime render across Hampshire and the surrounding Hampshire area throughout the year.

Hampshire is characterised by Georgian and Victorian housing, flint and brick cottages and extensive modern development, with coastal salt on Portsmouth and Gosport properties, EWI on solid-wall stock the recurring theme on the properties we survey. Local conditions bring mild southern conditions with coastal exposure, and that has a direct bearing on which systems are worth specifying.

Local factor. Flint-and-brick construction across the chalk downland needs lime, while the coastal cities are dominated by solid-wall terraces suited to external insulation.

Is lime render right for a Hampshire property?

Choose lime for any pre-1919, listed, stone, cob or solid-wall property — and wherever a conservation officer is involved.

That decision gets made at the survey, not on the phone. We will tell you plainly if a different system would serve the building better — including when a cheaper one would.

FAQs

Lime Render in Hampshire — questions

Do you offer a guarantee?

Yes. Every job carries our workmanship guarantee, and where a full manufacturer-specified system is installed you also get the system warranty on top.

What time of year is best for rendering?

Spring through autumn is ideal. Render should not be applied in frost or in very hot direct sun, so winter work needs protection and settled conditions.

Can you render over existing render?

Sometimes, if the existing coat is completely sound and well-bonded. We hammer-test it first. Anything hollow has to come off, because covering failure just hides it.

Are you insured?

Yes — full public liability cover, and we can send the certificate before we start. We are happy to provide RAMS for commercial and contractor work.

What areas do you cover?

We work UK-wide, with teams across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. If we are not the right firm for your location we will tell you rather than waste your time.

Why use lime render instead of cement on an old house?

Because solid walls manage moisture by letting it evaporate. Cement blocks that route, driving damp inward and often causing timber decay and spalled stone. Lime keeps the wall breathing.
