Garden & Boundary Walls in Derbyshire
Rendering garden, boundary and retaining walls with correct coping and weathering detail.
We carry out garden & boundary walls across Derbyshire and the surrounding Derbyshire area throughout the year.
The prevailing picture in Derbyshire is gritstone and limestone cottages, mill-town terraces and modern estates. That means frost damage at altitude and inappropriate cement render on stone cottages comes up more here than almost anywhere else. With cold, wet upland conditions in the Peak District, specification matters more in this part of the country than a national price list suggests.
Local factor. Properties in the peak sit high and exposed, so the same specification that works in derby city can fail badly a few miles up the valley.
Is garden & boundary walls right for a Derbyshire property?
Choose this for boundary, garden and retaining walls where you want the finish to match the house and actually survive the weather.
That decision gets made at the survey, not on the phone. We will tell you plainly if a different system would serve the building better — including when a cheaper one would.

FAQs
Garden & Boundary Walls in Derbyshire — questions
Do retaining walls need special treatment?
Yes. Retaining walls hold back saturated ground, so drainage behind the wall must be working before rendering. Otherwise trapped water pushes the render off.
How long does a rendering job take?
A typical three-bedroom semi is usually one to two weeks on site including scaffold, preparation, application and finishing. Weather, wall condition and the system chosen all move that.
Do I need planning permission to render my house?
Usually not on a standard house, but you will if the property is listed, in a conservation area, or if rendering would significantly change its appearance. We flag it at survey.
Will you need scaffolding?
For anything above single storey, yes — it is safer and produces a better finish than working off ladders or towers. Scaffold is included and itemised in the quote.
How long before I can paint new render?
Through-coloured systems need no painting at all. Sand and cement should cure for around 28 days before masonry paint goes anywhere near it.
Do you take a deposit?
For most domestic jobs we take a deposit to cover materials and scaffold, with the balance on completion. Terms are set out clearly in the written quote.
