Brick Slip Cladding in Rye

Brick slip systems giving an authentic brick face over insulation or an existing rendered wall.

Rye property owners come to us for brick slip cladding for one of two reasons: something has failed, or the house looks tired.

Most of what we see around Rye reflects the wider East Sussex pattern — Regency stucco in Brighton and Hove, tile-hung cottages and Victorian seafront terraces, and failing stucco and salt-driven render breakdown on seafront terraces.

The area sees mild with heavy coastal salt exposure, which is the single biggest factor in how long any render lasts here. Brighton and hove's regency stucco is a specialist lime-based tradition, and modern cement repairs to it fail visibly and quickly.

When brick slip cladding is the right call. Choose brick slips where planning, conservation or street character require a brick face, or where you want brick detailing over an insulated wall.

FAQs

Brick Slip Cladding in Rye

Will brick slips fall off?

Not when installed on a proper carrier system with mechanical fixing as well as adhesive. Failures come from adhesive-only fixing onto unsuitable substrates.

How long does a rendering job take?

A typical three-bedroom semi is usually one to two weeks on site including scaffold, preparation, application and finishing. Weather, wall condition and the system chosen all move that.

Do I need planning permission to render my house?

Usually not on a standard house, but you will if the property is listed, in a conservation area, or if rendering would significantly change its appearance. We flag it at survey.

Will you need scaffolding?

For anything above single storey, yes — it is safer and produces a better finish than working off ladders or towers. Scaffold is included and itemised in the quote.

How long before I can paint new render?

Through-coloured systems need no painting at all. Sand and cement should cure for around 28 days before masonry paint goes anywhere near it.
